May 5-9, 2025 marks OSHA’s National Safety Stand Down Week, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and preventing one of the construction industry’s most persistent and deadly hazards: falls from elevation.
At Cemplex Group, we’re proud to join contractors, trade partners, and construction professionals across the country in pausing work to refocus on safety.
Why Stand Down?
According to OSHA, falls remain the leading cause of death in construction, accounting for more than 1 in 3 construction fatalities each year. In 2023 alone, falls led to over 350 worker deaths—many of which were preventable with proper safety training and equipment.
National Safety Stand Down Week serves as a call to action for everyone in the industry, from frontline workers to leadership, to talk openly about fall hazards and recommit to safe practices on the job.
What We’re Doing at Cemplex Group
This year, Cemplex is leading our Stand Down efforts with a coordinated, company-wide approach. Across all regions and crews, we’ll be:
- Sending a company-wide email to explain the importance of National Safety Stand Down Week.
- Sharing educational flyers as a quick reference for field teams.
- Sending a company-wide text reminder to reinforce daily safety awareness.
- Encouraging social media engagement with the hashtag #StandDownForSafety
- Providing QR codes linking directly to OSHA’s Fall Prevention resources.
Every Cemplex jobsite is expected to participate, taking a few minutes each day to pause, engage, and reinforce our shared safety culture.
What OSHA Recommends
Per OSHA guidelines, employers are encouraged to:
- Talk directly with workers about fall hazards
- Review protective methods (guardrails, harnesses, anchors)
- Conduct hands-on equipment inspections
- Revisit fall protection plans and retrain when needed
The goal isn’t just to meet compliance—it’s to create a work environment where every worker knows how to protect themselves and others.
